Tips, tricks and living your truth: Queer Skate Austin builds LGBTQ community in Texas
Novices are welcome at Queer Skate Austin, an Austin LGBTQ skate club that meets every Sunday at Gaylord Sackler Memorial Skate Park. Queer Skate Austin in Austin, Texas, has been helping to build a thriving LGBTQ community through its events. Casey Gaston, a member of the group, said they aim to create an environment where people can feel safe and comfortable. Nawal, a host of the event, said she started skating a year ago when she started coming to group meetups. Gaston emphasized the importance of creating an environment for people visible as visibly queer to be by themselves.
