AUSTIN (KXAN) — A stabbing in north Austin over the weekend that left several people injured stemmed from a fight in an apartment complex parking lot, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by KXAN.

Austin Police said officers responded to a shoot/stab call at 8:42 p.m. Sunday at an apartment complex on North Lamar Boulevard. Five people were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was identified in an arrest affidavit as Hector Contreras-Uribe, 25. He faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, online jail records show.

KXAN has reached out to Contreras-Uribe’s attorney to request a comment on his charges. We will update this story when a response is received.

According to the affidavit, Contreras-Uribe was outside grilling with his two brothers when he got into an argument with a man who was outside playing music next to his truck over the volume of the music. The affidavit said the argument escalated to a physical fight after Contreras-Uribe picked up a rock and threw it, hitting the other man in the face.

During the fight, Contreras-Uribe stabbed the man several times, and Contreras-Uribe’s brothers tried to pull him away and break up the fight, according to the affidavit. At that point, the victim’s father showed up and saw the three men surrounding his son and ran over to help him, then he was also stabbed by Contreras-Uribe in the back and chest.

The son then went to his truck and got his own knife and stabbed Contreras-Uribe to defend himself and his father, the affidavit said.

Contreras-Uribe then fled the scene back to their apartment unit.

APD officers arrived and located the victims in their own apartment and provided them medical care. Officers also located the suspect and his brothers in their own apartment, where they also found a knife next to Contreras-Uribe on a bed.

Contreras-Uribe was booked into the Travis County Jail June 10 at 1:46 a.m. and is being held on a $60,000 total bond.
