AUSTIN (KAMR/KCIT) — Officials with the Texas Comptroller’s office remind business owners that the deadline to file property tax renditions with their county appraisal districts is April 15; deadlines can differ for particular regulated properties.

According to a Comptroller’s office press release, a rendition consists of “Taxable inventory, furniture and fixtures, machinery, equipment and other property owned or managed as of Jan. 1 each year.”

Officials said the Appraisal District uses the rendition to curate set property values.

“A rendition allows property owners to record their opinion of their property’s value and ensures that the appraisal district notifies property owners before changing a recorded value,” said the Comptroller’s office. “Exempt property, such as church property and equipment used for farming, is not subject to rendition.”

The release detailed that companies impacted by fire, floods, and storms can file a special decreased value report indicating the property’s condition on Jan. 1, 2024.

For rendition and decreased value report forms, as well as more information regarding the deadline, visit the Texas Comptrollers website.
