AUSTIN, Texas — The weekend is upon us and, as always, there are a ton of things going on in the Austin area! From a big race to a big night for country music, there's no shortage of fun activities happening over the next few days.

Here’s a breakdown of just some of the events you can attend this weekend.

Free live music kickoff parties will be held at Meridian, the Inspired Minds Art Center, Willie's Joint Bar & Grill and Nate's Coffee & Cocktails on Friday, ahead of the main event on Saturday. That will include a carnival, markets, a "Local Legend" award ceremony, a Buda-themed drone show and live performances by Greyhounds and headliner Shakey Graves. Then "Birthday Blues Brunch" events will be held at various venues on Sunday.

The Statesman Capitol 10K is back this weekend. Established in 1978, the event – typically referred to as the Cap10K – is the largest 10K race in Texas and the sixth-largest in the country.

The 47th annual event will go from the starting line over Lady Bird Lake to the Finish Line Festival at Vic Mathias/Auditorium Shores. The festival will feature free massages, food, cocktails, live music and more. For everything you need to know, check out the 2024 race guide.

The CMT Music Awards return to Austin's Moody Center this Sunday! The star-studded spectacle will include performances by Brittney Spencer, Cody Johnson, Jason Aldean, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Little Big Town, Sugarland and more. Trisha Yearwood will be awarded the June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award.

General admission floor tickets are still available, but all guests must be 18 or older. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and close at 6:30 p.m. ahead of the 7 p.m. start time.
