The Austin-area high school baseball season is in its stretch run in district play with teams battling for playoff spots. Austin-area high school baseball teams are entering the second half of district play with important wins in key districts across the Austin area. Akins 7, Austin High 5, and the Eagles gained a District 26-6A win over Austin High, while Dripping Springs 18, Westlake 11, highlighted by a strong performance from the Tigers, with 17 hits and a three-run homer from Tristan Ciechanowicz, Gavin Hoel, Traigh Perry, and Conner Helms all contributing to the Tigers' win. In other games, Akins' Dave Cisneros, Daniel Salas, Ryan Resendez, and Noah Corpus scored two runs for the Eagles. Johnson 12, Bowie 2, and Selvin Garrett, Ethan McLain and AJ Gonzalez all contributed to the Jaguars' win over Bowie. Lake Travis 5, Anderson 1, and Westwood 6, McNeil 1, kept their playoff hopes alive with a win. The Knights remain undefeated in District 26.

District races across the Austin area are entering the stretch run for Austin-area high school baseball teams. Here's the midweek baseball report:

Akins 7, Austin High 5: Dave Cisneros went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Daniel Salas drove in two runs and Ryan Resendez tripled and struck out three in two scoreless innings of relief on the mound as the Eagles gained a District 26-6A win. Noah Corpus fanned six in five innings and only allowed two earned runs to earn the win.

Dripping Springs 18, Westlake 11: The Tigers finished with an astounding 17 hits in a wild slugfest. Tristan Ciechanowicz went 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double and seven RBIs, Gavin Hoel finished a perfect 5-for-5 with a double, Traigh Perry went 2-for-4 with a walk, home run and three RBIs and Conner Helms blasted a three-run homer to highlight Dripping Springs’ day. Jack Tyndall, Taylor Tracey and Max Krippel also produced two hits apiece. For the Chaps, Holland Page, Jack Casteel, Lane Johnson and Theo Gillen all had RBI doubles.

Johnson 12, Bowie 2: Mason Alaniz struck out seven in five shutout innings and Selvin Garrett, Ethan McLain and AJ Gonzalez all drove in two runs to lead the Jaguars to a key win in District 26-6A.

Lake Travis 5, Anderson 1: Kadyn Leon had an impressive 13 strikeouts in five shutout innings, Karson Rader hit a two-run homer and Wyatt Gatlin went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI as the Cavs remained undefeated in District 26-6A.

Round Rock 6, Vandegrift 1: Sam DeLong stuck out and only allowed one hit in 6 2/3 innings and Chris Alsobrooks went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI to lead the Dragons to the win in the first game of an important District 25-6A series.

Westwood 6, McNeil 1: Jake Jones hit a double and drove in three runs, Ridge Morgan had two RBIs, Lane Wood went 2-for-4 with a run-scoring single and Antonio Martinez struck out five in 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief as the Warriors kept their playoff hopes alive with the win.

Vista Ridge 1, Stony Point 0: Andre Wood had 10 strikeouts in a one-hit shutout and accounted for the game’s only run with an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth to lead the Rangers.

Weiss 5, Bryan 0: Jessie Hernandez struck out eight in six innings and combined with Kyle Fallowfield, who retired the side on strikeouts in the seventh, on a shutout. Ty Fulford went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Followfield smacked a run-scoring double, Kevin Bautista drove in two runs and Jorian Guinn and Jordan Benjamin both had two hits to lead the Wolves offense.

Hutto 8, Temple 2: Jayden Saxbury went 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs and allowed no earned runs in five innings on the mound to give the Hippos their first District 12-6A win. Aiden Torres-Pollard and Roman Grametbauer combined for four hits and three RBIs in other offense for Hutto.

Liberty Hill 5, Lehman 2: Blaze Milam scattered three hits in throwing a complete game, while Toby Rimann, Andrew Basey and Carson Sharp all drove in runs to lead the Panthers.

Cedar Park 6, Hays 3: Hudson Cuevas went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored to keep the Timberwolves in first place in District 25-5A.

Rouse 12, Lockhart 1: Rayner Heinrich hit two doubles and finished 4-for-4 with two RBIs, Oscar Salazar drove in four runs and Gavin Silva fanned 10 in five innings to lead the Raiders.

Leander 4, Glenn 0: Harrison Thayer tossed a four-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts, Hudson Schwab hit an RBI double, Hayden Capers had three hits and Logan Mitchell went 2-for-3 with an RBI to pace the Lions.

Bastrop 12, Connally 2: Easton Allen hit a two-run double and struck out 11 in four innings on the mound to pace the Bears in a District 23-5A win. Val Regalado smacked an RBI double, Sam Abraham went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Ben Vaquera drove in two runs in other notable offense for Bastrop.

East View 4, Pflugerville 2: Patrick Reyes fanned eight in 6 2/3 innings and had an RBI single as the Patriots claimed an important win for their playoff hopes in District 23-5A.

Elgin 13, Cedar Creek 0: Jack Grames struck out seven in a two-hit shutout, Austin Miller went 3-for-3 with a triple and Cason Nalle, Nathen Lewis and Malakai Hibbs all went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Wildcats.

Georgetown 15, Hendrickson 1: Reece Herrera hit a bases-clearing triple and finished with five RBIs, Hayden Grooms smacked a two-run double, Jackson Rainey went 3-for-3 and Talan Ball finished 2-for-3 with an RBI as the Eagles took sole possession of first place in District 23-5A. David Fluitt had eight strikeouts in a complete game on the mound.

LASA 4, McCallum 2: The Raptors scored three times in the bottom of the sixth to take a key District 24-5A win. Zac Kahn ripped an RBI double and later scored on a wild pitch for LASA’s tying and lead runs, with Connor Willie belting a run-scoring single to center for the team’s insurance run. Kahn and Jonah Cihock combined for a one-hitter, with the latter throwing four innings of relief to earn the win. Sam Stevens fanned seven in four innings of work for the Knights.

Crockett 14, Travis 1: Hunter Dement struck out 13 and scattered four hits in a complete-game shutout, Byron Porter went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs and Jason Reed finished 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs as the Cougars surged above .500 in District 24-5A play.
