Texas State students Andrea Palmour and Gracie Luna Ward have benefited from the Empowering Women as Leaders (EWL) scholarship and mentorship program, which provides financial support for women pursuing college degrees later in life. The Austin chapter, founded in 2022, has awarded 19 scholarships to women ages 24 to 60. Applicants must be women over 23 seeking a bachelor’s degree with financial need. The EWL Austin chapter board recruits mentors through their friends, family, and networks, looking for women interested in giving back. The program also offers leadership classes after graduation and hosts virtual and in-person networking events for its recipients.
