APA! originally entered a one-year agreement with the county in April 2023 to come up with recommendations for the location, budget, policies and operations of the center. The contract was extended until June 30.

HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — On Tuesday, the Hays County Commissioners’ Court approved a three-month contract extension with Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) related to the development of a new Pet Resource Center.

“The center would aim to provide programs focused on public safety, animal safety and lifesaving, pet owner resources for happy and healthier pets, and community education for safe and humane pet care,” the county said.

APA! originally entered a one-year agreement with the county in April 2023 to come up with recommendations for the location, budget, policies and operations of the center, according to a release from Hays County.

The county said APA! representatives presented its final recommendations and operations plan to the court Tuesday.

The new contract was extended through June 30, according to the county.

“Austin Pets Alive! will continue as the project coordinator for the Pet Resource Center and provide new deliverables for the next three-month period including continued marketing and community outreach efforts and operations of the virtual pet resource center program,” the county said.
