BASTROP COUNTY, Texas — Parts of Bastrop County are under a boil water notice for the second time in less than a week.
On Tuesday, a water main line broke, resulting in system pressure losses in two regions of the county. Now, all residents living north of FM 696 and west of State Highway 95 are asked to bring their water to a rolling boil before use.
Impacted customers are located in Zones 3 and 6 of the Aqua Water Supply Corporation's (WSC) service area. The restriction is in place until further notice.
Residents in these areas should boil water for approximately two minutes, then allow it to cool before brushing their teeth, washing their hands, cooking or using the water for anything else.
Aqua WSC will directly call customers who are placed under the notice. Residents will also be informed when the notice is lifted.
Elderly adults, children and those with low-functioning immune systems should be especially cautious before drinking water at this time.
The restrictions were put in place by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), along with Aqua WSC.
Last week, people in Hills Prairie, Rosanky and Smithville were placed under similar restrictions during a different water line break. These residents are no longer impacted.
