AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department has identified the 27-year-old motorcyclist killed in a crash in southeast Austin Saturday.
William Heinz-Phillip Fountain was driving on Teri Road, near S. Pleasant Valley Road, when he crossed into a lane of oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle, according to police. The crash happened just before 9:30 p.m.
He was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the other vehicle remained on the scene and was not impaired, police said.
This is the 35th traffic fatality of the year in Austin, according to APD data. That number is running lower than seen in the past three years.
