Antonelli’s ninth win at Austin: world title hopes put on hold. Leclerc secures a podium finish for Ferrari

Antonelli and Leclerc: a ‘one-two’ in Austin for the driver and team from Emilia-Romagna, but the world title is not yet secured Ki Antonelli secured his ninth win at the Austin Grand Prix, his ninth out of eighteen Grand Prix races. Despite starting from pole position with a flawless start and using a one-stop strategy, Antonelli took a 15-minute lead over Ferrari's Charles Leclerc over teammate Verstappen. However, Hamilton and Russell failed to secure a victory due to a virtual safety car caused by Vas Bottas' Valtteri Hamilton's Valttership and a clutch power delivery issue. Despite an excellent race for Ferrari, Charles LeClerc finished second. Despite Ferrari's dominance in free practice sessions, they only managed fourth and fifth fastest times behind Antoneilli, Verstatten, and Hadjar. Hamilton's fifth place was only one place higher than his team-mate Lewis Hamilton's expected finish. Lecler's performance was also disappointing for Ferrari as he had to wait until he turns twenty-one to drink alcohol, while Hamilton's five-second penalty for bringing forward his pit stop was compounded by a five-minute penalty.
